Summary

Impact-driven Senior Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience architecting, building, and operating high-throughput distributed systems, event-driven backends, and cloud-native services. Expert in Go, Python, and TypeScript, with a deep background in microservices design, database query optimization, and CI/CD automation. Proven record of scaling platform capacity to handle 15M+ active users, cutting P99 API response latency by 52%, and leading engineering pods to deliver enterprise SaaS products on schedule.

Work experience

Senior Software Engineer

Apr 2022 - Present

CloudScale Systems

• San Francisco, CA

Architected and rolled out a distributed data streaming platform using Go and Apache Kafka, processing 18M+ daily events with 99.99% availability. Refactored monolithic backend services into containerized microservices deployed on AWS EKS, reducing 99th percentile API latency from 580ms to 75ms. Designed multi-tier Redis caching layers and optimized PostgreSQL indexing strategies, cutting relational database compute load by 45% and saving $24,000 monthly in cloud infrastructure expenses. Led a cross-functional pod of 7 engineers through architectural RFCs, sprint planning, and bi-weekly releases, improving sprint completion rates from 74% to 93%. Spearheaded automated test adoption using Testify, Mockito, and GitHub Actions CI pipelines, boosting unit and integration test coverage across core repos from 52% to 89%. Governed incident response runbooks and telemetry monitoring via Prometheus and Datadog, decreasing Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) by 40%.

Software Engineer

Jul 2019 - Mar 2022

NexaTech Labs

• Seattle, WA

Built scalable REST and GraphQL APIs in Python (FastAPI/Django) and Node.js for an enterprise SaaS platform serving 500K+ daily active users. Engineered secure payment workflows and subscription billing integrations with Stripe, ensuring webhook idempotency and zero duplicate transaction states. Authored automated schema migrations and read-replica configurations for PostgreSQL and MongoDB, facilitating zero-downtime production rollouts. Standardized Docker build environments and automated multi-stage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI, reducing deployment cycle times by 60%. Collaborated with Product and UX teams in an Agile Scrum squad of 9, actively participating in architectural reviews, backlog refinement, and peer pull requests.

Projects

High-Concurrency Rate Limiter & API Gateway Service

Jan 2023 - Present

Developer

Designed a distributed token-bucket rate limiter in Go backed by Redis clusters, handling 25,000 requests per second with sub-5ms response overhead. Protected upstream microservices from traffic surges and abusive scraping attempts with configurable client rate boundaries.
