Summary

Results-driven Data Engineer with 6+ years of experience designing, implementing, and scaling high-throughput batch and real-time streaming data pipelines. Expert in Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and cloud ecosystems (AWS/GCP). Proven track record of building distributed data architectures handling 100M+ events daily, slashing pipeline execution latency by 55%, reducing monthly cloud compute expenses by $30,000, and ensuring 99.9% data reliability for analytics and machine learning teams.

Work experience

Senior Data Engineer

Apr 2022 - Present

CloudWave Analytics

• Seattle, WA

- Architected and deployed an end-to-end streaming data ingestion platform using Apache Kafka, PySpark, and Delta Lake on Databricks, processing 120M+ daily events with sub-second latency. - Overhauled legacy batch ETL workflows into modular dbt models orchestrated with Apache Airflow, reducing nightly pipeline runtimes from 6 hours to 1.5 hours. - Implemented automated data quality checks and schema drift alerts using Great Expectations, preventing pipeline outages and decreasing data-related bug tickets by 45%. - Optimized distributed Spark jobs, partition strategies, and Snowflake clustering keys, cutting monthly cloud compute and query costs by 32% ($30K/month). - Partnered with Machine Learning engineers to build low-latency feature ingestion pipelines, delivering clean model-ready data across 15+ production ML models.

Associate Data Engineer

Jun 2018 - Jul 2019

MetroTech Solutions

• Portland, OR

- Developed and maintained SQL queries, stored procedures, and automated views for operational sales and inventory reporting. - Wrote automated Python scripts to parse, clean, and validate daily incoming CSV and JSON payloads from external vendor APIs. - Assisted in managing and scheduling cron jobs for nightly database back-ups and data warehouse ingestion jobs.

Projects

Real-Time Fraud Detection Pipeline

Jan 2023

Built an event-driven stream processing pipeline ingesting mock transactional streams, performing real-time windowed aggregations, and flagging suspicious transactions in under 100ms. Technologies: Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Redis, Docker

Open-Source S3 to Snowflake Ingestion Engine

Jan 2023

Created a lightweight automated file listener that ingests, decompresses, and stages incoming Parquet files into Snowflake stages with automated idempotency checks. Technologies: Python, AWS S3, Snowflake SQL
